The MS-721 certification validates skills in planning, designing, configuring, and managing Microsoft Teams voice, video, meetings, and certified devices. It covers Teams Phone System deployment, SBC and direct routing configuration, PSTN connectivity, emergency calling, compliance recording, Teams Rooms setup, and collaboration device management across enterprise environments.

This certification is designed for collaboration communications systems engineers who specialize in Microsoft Teams telephony and meeting room solutions. Candidates should have experience with telecommunications, networking, and Microsoft Teams voice architecture, along with proficiency in configuring SBCs, call routing, and Teams certified devices.

The exam consists of 40–60 questions to be completed in approximately 100 minutes (120 minutes if labs are included). Question types include multiple-choice, multiple-select, drag-and-drop, and hot area formats. Questions are technically deep, focusing on SBC configuration, call routing policies, PSTN connectivity options, and Teams Rooms deployment. Expect detailed scenarios about voice quality, emergency calling, and device management.

This exam requires specialized telephony and Teams voice knowledge. Candidates with general Teams administration experience but no hands-on voice and telephony configuration often find the SBC and call routing questions very challenging.
