About the exam
The PL-900 certification demonstrates foundational knowledge of the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Virtual Agents, and Microsoft Copilot Studio. It covers the business value of the Power Platform, core components, how to connect to data using Dataverse and connectors, and how to build basic apps, automations, chatbots, and reports using low-code tools.

No coding experience is required, and the exam tests conceptual understanding of how Power Platform tools can solve business problems and accelerate digital transformation.

What's on the exam
The exam consists of 40–60 questions to be completed in approximately 45 minutes. Question types include multiple-choice, multiple-select, drag-and-drop, and hot area formats. Questions focus on identifying the right Power Platform component for a given business scenario rather than testing implementation skills. Pace yourself at roughly one minute per question as most are concept-based and direct.

Despite being a fundamentals exam, PL-900 covers all five Power Platform components plus Dataverse. Candidates who focus on only one product (like Power BI) often miss questions about other Power Platform tools.
